DOORED

Woah, some guy just got doored on my ride home from Circular Quay tonight, he was literally 5 feet in front of me and I had to swerve around him and his bike. Looked like the guy was gonna be alright, but it was one gnarly bail... sketchy.

I ♥ Chu

Its Official. Miss Chu is my new favorite place in Sydney. Ate there today after reading about it and it was beyond expectations. Inexpensive, high quality, and traditional gourmet vietnamese foods. Dumplings. Rice paper rolls. Vermicelli Salads. Coconut Juice. Amazing. Miss Chu call's herself the Queen of Rice Paper Rolls, but I think that's an understatement. Miss Chu is God of Rice Paper Rolls, among other delicious eats.

Left the bar early last night with a crew for a night cruise. Ended with a couple bottles of wine in Centennial Park..

Will Coles: Street Art

Remote Control that reads "Isolation"
After stumbling across a few of his pieces in Sydney I did some research to find that Will Coles is behind my new favorite street art. He creates concrete sculptures in the form of tv remotes, tv's and cellphones and then glues them in discrete locations around the city. The subtlety of his work is easily overlooked by those people who are so consumed by the distractions of modern living (tv, cellphones, etc), which is exactly his point.

Tastes like Chicken?

I always figured that this is how they made chicken McNuggets, but seeing is believing. Even though I don't order chicken nuggets, I can't imagine what their "beef" looks like. Never again Maca's, never.

The Gang at the Manly House.

Halloween @ Hibernian

Hibernian house is a sick warehouse style apartment complex near Central in the city. The whole place is covered in graffiti and they throw a mean party. Good local rock bands, underground Sydney scene.

Happy Birthday Deus!

Poppin Bottles in the Store
The Deus store in Camperdown turned 5 the other day. Champagne 'n motorcycles, classy.

Shady Pines Saloon

Shady Pines Saloon lies behind an unmarked door in an alleyway off Oxford St. The venue is themed after an old western Saloon with kitch to match all over the place. The bar looks good from behind its layers of string lights and mounted jackalopes and the crowd scene was hip, younger and relaxed. To cap it off the place has an excellent selection of brews and its pretty darn close to my residence. Barkeep! Send down another round, I think I'm gonna be a regular.

The Doghouse

The Doghouse is the Height of swankiness. A speak-easy in the center of Darlinghurst with no more street presence than a dapper 20's style girl standing with a list in front of a blank door. After discovering the place in the inter-webz, I placed my name on the list along with Adam and Spencer and went the same night. Turns out its their last weekend and I am glad I got to see it before it closed.

As you can see the bottles hang above the bar on pulley systems, with copper counter weights and everything is very prohibition chic haha.

Swanky is the word to describe this spot.

City Nights

So the other night Brittany came out to the city for the Sydney International Food Festival event, the Noodle Markets. Every year about 50 noodle shops set up pop-up stores in the park and sell their various forms of noodles and asian cuisine and sydney-siders from all over come eat and bring beer and wine and relax in the park. Its a really cool event and right next to our apartment.

After enjoying some good food and a couple beers while listening to the DJ in the park we decided to try a new bar I'd heard of near by. Down a tiny alley off the hustle and bustle of George st. you'll find Grasshopper. A small, 2 level bar and eatery hidden off the beaten path with a really cool
style and amazing cocktail menu. Grasshopper is well near our house and in th
e center of roaring CBD, but feels
exclusive and private with its decor and location.
