Reptilian Resistance!

Chalk Art spotted, Hyde Park.

Crew Oz

The Gang at the Manly House.

Halloween @ Hibernian

Hibernian house is a sick warehouse style apartment complex near Central in the city. The whole place is covered in graffiti and they throw a mean party. Good local rock bands, underground Sydney scene.

Happy Birthday Deus!

Poppin Bottles in the Store
The Deus store in Camperdown turned 5 the other day. Champagne 'n motorcycles, classy.

Shady Pines Saloon

Shady Pines Saloon lies behind an unmarked door in an alleyway off Oxford St. The venue is themed after an old western Saloon with kitch to match all over the place. The bar looks good from behind its layers of string lights and mounted jackalopes and the crowd scene was hip, younger and relaxed. To cap it off the place has an excellent selection of brews and its pretty darn close to my residence. Barkeep! Send down another round, I think I'm gonna be a regular.

The Doghouse

The Doghouse is the Height of swankiness. A speak-easy in the center of Darlinghurst with no more street presence than a dapper 20's style girl standing with a list in front of a blank door. After discovering the place in the inter-webz, I placed my name on the list along with Adam and Spencer and went the same night. Turns out its their last weekend and I am glad I got to see it before it closed.

As you can see the bottles hang above the bar on pulley systems, with copper counter weights and everything is very prohibition chic haha.

Swanky is the word to describe this spot.

City Nights

So the other night Brittany came out to the city for the Sydney International Food Festival event, the Noodle Markets. Every year about 50 noodle shops set up pop-up stores in the park and sell their various forms of noodles and asian cuisine and sydney-siders from all over come eat and bring beer and wine and relax in the park. Its a really cool event and right next to our apartment.

After enjoying some good food and a couple beers while listening to the DJ in the park we decided to try a new bar I'd heard of near by. Down a tiny alley off the hustle and bustle of George st. you'll find Grasshopper. A small, 2 level bar and eatery hidden off the beaten path with a really cool
style and amazing cocktail menu. Grasshopper is well near our house and in th
e center of roaring CBD, but feels
exclusive and private with its decor and location.

Cheeri-woes

I was reading the Crit's blog, Cinnamonee, earlier and it made me realize how much I've been deprived of something so dear to me..cereal. The 2 major problems with Australia: A) Expensive Booze. (B) Shit cereals. I mean not one box in the cereal aisle even has the word "frosted" on it, not to mention I can't find a speck of cinnamon, sugar, or cinnamon sugar anywhere. I'm about ready to start an illegal cereal cartel to smuggle me in some Cinnamon Toast Crunch and a few crates of my delectable Apple Cinny Cheeri-bros... I miss them dearly. This place doesn't even have Honey Nut Cheerios, I thought they were universal! I figured there were kids in Mumbai with no water to drink and even they had some honey nut.. but not here the only cheerio you can find here is the Whole grain kind, yeah the one with 0 flavor. Its like someone came in and sucked alll the fun out of breakfast. Oh, I was excited to find a box of Captain Crunch in a store featuring "international tastes" untill I realized it was $17.90. WTF. I guess cereal's only for ballers here. Can I get a table at the club with bottle service and a box of Cookie Crisp Playa? Real talk holla at me..

Pat & Stick's Ice Cream Sandwiches

I love ice cream and I love cookies. Now these two guys created a love child between homemade cookies and homemade ice cream and I'm beside myself. With a plethora of cookie and ice cream combinations, I think this is gonna be one habit I find hard to resist.

I wanna move like this

Pretty soon this dance'll be sweepin the nations. I'm not ready to unveil it in the clubs yet, but I'm gettin close..

Redoak: Boutique Beer Cafe

My quest for good beers in the austere brewing environment of Australia has lead me to Redoak Beer Cafe. The bar brews a large selection of its own craft beers and is only a few block from my house (how fortunate).

My Favorite Aussie IPA to date.
Today was my first visit and I was very pleased with the pint of IPA I ordered; hoppy and bitter with a nice full taste (despite only being about 6.5% abv). Although not as strong as home the flavor was there. I like their selection of beers but the bar was a bit sterile and the clientele was a bit too corporate and stuffy, which I guess is understandable considering its proximity to most businesses in CBD. Anyhow, I'll be back for the beer, but The Local Taphouse still holds the title for my favorite in Sydney.

Wanted

These are crisp. Spotted @ Hype in CBD. Too bad everything is soo expensive in Sydney.

Got my first taste of some real Aussie waves last weekend. Curl Curl was going OFF. Double over head and heavy. These pics were taken the day I was out and they don't even do justice to the waves that day. ep-gnar.

Ajay took me to Pepper Lunch in Tokyo for some late night grinds a couple times and the place is soooo good. They only have one location in the states, just outside San jose, and this is their only location in Oz. Turns out its a few blocks from my house, so sick.

ParkLIFE 2

Soulwax
party people
Delorean
I gotta say, Delorean may have been my favorite performance of the day. All the crowds had migrated to see Missy Elliot and other big-hitters so we practically got a private show and they killed it. That being said, I have to admit the show as a whole was jam-packed with bangers making for a seriously face-melting day.
To top things off, Groove Armada finished the night off with their last performance EVER in Australia and one of their last ever performances as a band together... a little slice of musical history that we all indulged in thoroughly..

ParkLIFE

Darwin Deez
Soulwax LIVE
Yolanda be Cool VS Dcup
Cave Stage
Park Life was epic as predicted and the weather couldn't have been better. The day before rained like cats and dogs and persisted through the morning of the show, but that didn't dampen our spirits. The sun made an appearance early in the show and the occasional rain showers only fueled the festival goers burning up the dance floor.
